2015 Paddle Shuttle Day

The first in a series of River Day posts about what you can expect each day of the 2015 Paddle.

Hello River Friends,

The 2015 Paddle Namekagon begins in 116 days. Yes, it’s cold outside, but ice-out will occur, and we’re planning on another excellent adventure. It’s a perfect time to dream of warm summer days and being on the river. On “soft” water. This is the first in what will be a series of informational posts, with one for each River Day. We hope to whet your appetite for the paddle season and help you prepare for the 2015 Paddle Namekagon.

Please note, there is a block of rooms held for SCRA at the Danbury Casino for those driving in Friday, June 12. A double queen, standard, non-smoking room is $88.00 plus tax. The Casino Lodge is another option, with double queen, standard, non-smoking rooms at $55.00 plus tax.

Shuttle Day – River Day 0

Saturday June 13

Shuttle truck 2012So what will the first day be like? Registrants should plan to meet in the Danbury Casino parking lot between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 pm. for check in. Your boat will be loaded onto the shuttles, with your gear for the week packed into the “Paddle Truck”. Your vehicle will have a week of vacation at the casino in the lighted lot. At 1:00 p.m. sharp the shuttles take you and all of your gear to Cable, WI, where we camp the first night.

Actually, to call it camping is a bit of a stretch. You will sleep in your tent, but you will be smack in the middle of town. It’s a nice thing. The Cable community will treat us well. The Rivers Eatery (awesome wood fired pizza) will be cooking dinner for registrants, and the Natural History Museum will host an evening program for us.

In the morning there will be options purchase breakfast from local eateries, or if prefer to do your own cooking the “kitchen” will be set up for your use.

And then we’ll be off on River Day 1! Watch for details about River Day 1 coming next!

If you haven’t already, register today!
